In 2019, DASON hosted a group from Oxford University Research Unit in Ha Noi, Vietnam who were in the process of developing antimicrobial stewardship programs for their local hospitals.

DASON and ASET faculty/staff took a look at the impact of antibiotic stewardship round in the intensive care setting. 

Drs. Jessie Seidelman and Dan Sexton, from both the DICON and DASON teams, worked on an editorial commentary on long-term oral therapy for treatment of bone and joint infections for the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.

DASON Fellow Dr. Chris Shoff led a team of faculty from the Infectious Diseases Divisions of both Duke Medical Center and the Durham VA Hospital to show improved emperic antibiotic prescribing for acute cystitis with use of local urinary antibiograms and clinical support systems.

Lead by Dr. Rebekah Moehring, the DASON team worked through antibiotic use data to develop an electronic definition for de-escalation of antibiotics in hospitalized patients.

DASON faculty Drs. Dev Anderson and Libby Dodds Ashley teamed up with faculty from The University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, Virginia Commonwealth, University of Calgary, Washington University, and Cook County Health & Rush University to take a look at significant regional differences in antibiotic use across 576 U.S. hospitals from 2016 to 2017.

DASON Medical Director, Dr. Shaefer Spires, and DASON Operations Director, Dr. Libby Dodds Ashley, are featured in an editorial, Regarding Collaboration in Antimicrobial Stewardship, in Infectious Disease Clinics of North America.

DASON Operations Director and Liaison Pharmacist, Dr. Libby Dodds Ashley, worked with a team from Rochester NY to reduce fluoroquinolone use and C. difficile infections in community nursing homes through hospital-nursing home collaboration.
